HOLI: Festival of COLORS!!!

Festival of colors....the most amazing Hindu festival EVER!!! My friends and I went to this festival down at the Hare Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork. I went last year and so this was my second year attending. It basically is the most fun you can have on a saturday! This is what our saturday consisted of:
  1. Packing people into my car and making the drive down to Spanish Fork
  2. Buying our packets of colored dye

  3. Feeding Llamas and peacocks

  4. Eating weird vegetarian Indian food which was surprisingly good?
  5. Watching a demon effigy be burned in a bonfire
  6. The big countdown to the color throwing and then POOF!
  7. Colored chalk and dye everywhere!! If you are in the middle of the mass of people you cannot see or breathe very well for a little while :)
  8. Throwing as much colored dye as you can at anyone and everyone
  9. Dancing around in a huge mosh (?) pit and hoping you don't get pushed up into crowd surfing
  10. Listening to a rock band play the Hare Krishna chant over and over again to different music

  11. Walk back to the car
  12. drive home and take a shower
  13. watch the dye wash off of you like koolaid
  14. Blow your nose, and purple snot comes out
  15. Relax and watch a movie
  16. BEST DAY EVER!!

So guess what?!

Alrighty once again it has been a few weeks but the much anticipated update is here! You all are overjoyed which is to be expected, because, well I have so many exciting things that have happened. First off Cinco de Marcho plus dos (March 7) was a success! We decorated our whole apartment with mexican flags, red balloons, and white and green crepe paper. Let's just say it was magical and we all got a little light headed from blowing up the balloons so fast. But really the party was so so so much fun! We ate taquitos and nachos with salsa, we listened to mexican music, we made a pinata named El Desperado, and we went swimming and watched the Three Amigos. Clearly we were completely immersed into the culture :)

Also the day before cinco de marcho, guess who gets engaged?! Oh my goodness yes, it is my roommate!! Camille Burgess received her actual engagement ring from Tij von Nieda on Friday the 6th of March. It was madness! Tij set up pictures of them in the Museum of Art, as an exhibit, and the next thing you know he is down on one knee proposing. It was so cute. Camille announced it to us by slamming open the door and forcefully holding up her left ring finger. No words were spoken, just that action, and all of us went crazy. Oh how I love that girlie!
The last few weeks have been pretty uneventful. Just hanging out at home while my parents were in Alabama and then playing with the roommates of course. Although you all will be happy to hear that the Sea Otters, my bowling team, are ranked 7th out of 16 teams. And next week starts the tournament. Apparently you have to be in the top 8 teams to be in the winning bracket. So we'll see how that goes. Anyways I love all of you and I miss you so so much!

This is me and Brissa at bowling league night. We decided to dress up 80's. You can only see the top half of us but believe me the bottom half is pure excellence. Pink spandex and knee high socks/leg warmers, it can't get better than that.

I've been bad at blogging lately SORRY!

So it has almost been a month since I last posted, dang it! Hopefully I will get better at writing faithfully on this thing. Well let's see in the last month I have reclaimed my status as a heartbreaker, so says dad (he is secretly excited that I am haha) Let's just say I want to date lots of people and well that's how it's going to be for a while :) Kristin told me that I had my share of kissing this year, probably true.

These last few weeks have been crazy with midterms and papers. It is insane how many papers I have had to write lately. And the midterms are equally rough but so far so good YAY! School is crazy as always but it's alright because I like it that way. If my life was not busy I wouldn't know what to do with myself. Also Winter semester is over in about 6 or 7 weeks....oh YA!

I got to go to the Draper temple with my Mom and Nathan. It is so beautiful! I thought it was going to be smaller, judging from the pictures, but it is huge and amazing. I also have the chance to go to the temple dedication on March 22, so there is that to look forward to.

Another fun thing which is coming up is Cinco de Marcho...plus dos. My friends and I are throwing a Cinco de Mayo party in March since no one will actually be here in may, but we couldn't do it in the middle of the week so it is on March 7....hence the plus dos. We will have mexican food, a homemade pinata (we're working on it), swimming, and to top it all off the movie "The Three Amigos" Yes, we are dorks but it is going to be oh so fun. Anyways I love you all and I will try to update you more on my life, have no fear :)

p.s. bowling league is tonight-wish me luck! Go SEA OTTERS (team name)

so good news...I saw a dog today (elf)

Alrighty so it has absolutely been too long since I posted on my blog...But honestly nothing very exciting has happened but in order to catch y'all up here's a few things about this winter semester:
1. I have joined a bowling league. Yes, be astonished and amazed! Every Thursday night I is league night at the Wilkinson Center for students. It is awesome! Also we are getting t-shirts (any suggestions for my name would be greatly appreciated)
2. D&C boy. Let's just say some boys are extremely attractive the first day of class and then they speak to you, and they are no longer attractive, just creepy.
3. I am in a Turbo Kickboxing class every Wednesday night. It kicks my trash but is so so so much fun.
4. Surprisingly my Sexuality Education class is my favorite one. It may sound weird but my teacher is amazing and I am learning so much- it's quite informative
5. Only 2 1/2 months until Britney Spears concert. You may laugh, but I always believed in her :)
6. I don't know about this whole dating thing. Sometimes I get really sick of going on dates and not liking any one. They are all great but there's nothing.
7. I thoroughly enjoy working out. I am like a deer on that eliptical.
8. I am applying for this Romania Internship. Hopefully I will get it. If so that would be so so amazing and give me a chance to get out and experience the world.
9. I feel like M &M's are taken for granted. Sometimes you want plain chocolate- not all the hodge podge of caramel and nuts and peanut butter. It has become one of my favorite treats during my cinema class when I start getting a headache due to low blood sugar haha
10. This semester is going by so so fast. It is already February for goodness sake. Only a couple more weeks till my sister in-law has her baby. So exciting!
Well hopefully this is update enough for everyone. I love you and hope everything is well.
p.s. The picture at the top was taken at Wal-Mart, it was the sweetest truck I had ever seen. Complete with purple paint and raging golden flames. It complete me :)
